Los Angeles Postcards
From the vault in Wilmington, North Carolina (close to the Deep River apartment complex), I salvaged a superb crate of postcards. They span the 1940s through to the 1970s and consist mostly of motels, hotels, and restaurants. You’ll find mostly Los Angeles, but one or two from outside the vicinity snuck in.
Anyway, my natural curiosity got the better of me and I’ve decided to do a side-by-side comparison for all of them — only to discover that nothing remains, and what does is pretty grim.
Built in 1959, the Alvarado Palms on Alvarado Street (oddly enough).
Today of course, history has chiseled away, replaced with a lifeless facade. I’m not angry.
