Southern California in Print

This is a hefty archive. No joke. Pulled from our vault in Nebraska — near the old Tiger Jim’s cocktail lounge on 23rd Street, this historical collection includes a large number of titles including the Los Angeles Times and Sunday supplements, hotel guides, Key Magazine, and other bits and bobs.

There are hundreds of pages to peruse… spanning 1911 to the late 1970s. Southern California’s many periodicals and newspapers hold significant cultural importance due to their role in shaping and reflecting the region's identity, promoting diverse voices, and documenting its history.

Los Angeles Times, 1931. Cover and article on Chinese prophet Gin Chow.

The archive holds a gargantuan amount of materials that played a vital role in capturing, promoting, and preserving the cultural richness of the region.
